Hello Marja
I know it seems that many of us in the US grow nothing but TB iris but at
least for me that is not true. I do have TB, IB, BB, SDB, JI, SIB, MDB, MTB,
ARIL, ARIL BRED, LA, SPURIA, PCN, I. versicolor (12 varieties) , I japonica
(2), I tectorum (3) and pseudicorus (3). Do I grow them all well, no, but
have fun trying to learn how to.
I live in Western Washington State where the temperatures are moderate.
Generally the summer temps are in the 80's,
winters in the 40's with a few days higher and lower. Our rain fall is about
30 inches per year mostly in the winter in the form of mist.
I live about 35 miles S of Seattle about 2 miles from Puget Sound. The
soil is mostly gravel with glacial till, a bit of sand & very little loam. Fir
trees and rhodies, cedar and ferns love it!
I grow most of the variety of iris you mentioned. Hope you feel welcome,
we'd love to hear from you as much as you can feel comfortable with.
