The following description is from the 1996 Stockton Iris Gardens catalog:
VELVET UNDERGROUND (Larry Lauer, '96) TB ML 36"
The Sixties' music group of the same name was just inducted into the Rock
'n Roll Hall of Fame; we don't know if this iris will achieve similar
notoriety, but we do know that you will enjoy the plush red velvet colors
it brings to your garden. The red violet standards and style arms are
accompanied by darker velvety red violet falls and white beards, creating a
bitonal effect. The colors hold up well in the hot Sacramento home garden
sun; should be sunfast elsewhere. Sdlg L-88-121-3: Royal Celebrity X (Park
