Hello Irisers:
I was walking through my Irises today and noticed something that I have
noticed before and I was wondering if it happens to anyone else. We're
talking about TB's here.
I try very carefully to plant at ground level making sure that the end of the
rhizome is covered. (I've read that covering the end of the rhizome helps to
prevent rot.) I leave just the belly of the iris showing.
So today I noticed that some rhizomes are deeper in the ground.......I'd say
covered by 1" of soil. I would think that this was a settling process except
that its not all the irises in a given area.
Is it possible for the roots to pull the rhizome down in the ground as they
begin to form?
