HYB: Sino-Siberian Seeds

From: "Sterling Okase" <sterling_o@hotmail.com>

Hi Talkers,

I just harvested my last pods for the season. It was a Sino-Siberian (40
chr.) cross of a Jean Witt seedling with Dotted Line. This is the first
time for me doing a Sino-Sibe cross so I have a question. The pods had
turned yellow and starting to turn brown and crack open at the top. When
I opened them up, it was FULL of seeds. The seeds closest to the top of
the pod (where it had turned brown and cracked open) were brown, much
like how I expect a seed to look but the rest were different. The seeds
were disk like in shape and it looks like there is a brown seed inside a
white, spongy outer layer. Is this what Sino-Sibe seeds look like? Are
these good, viable seeds? Or are they immature? The only Irisarian I
know that works with the Sino-Sibes is Lorena Reid but unfortunately she
is not on the list and I don't want to spend money calling LD. If anyone
out there knows what Sino-Sibe seeds are supposed to look like, I would
sure appreciate the advice.

Thanks in advance
