Re: New person - not new irisarian

From: "Kevin or Cheryl Oke" <okephoto@gulfislands.com>

Hi William:

I grow mostly TBs, but I also have some MED, SIB, JI, BULB, and SPEC
iris in my collection. I am joining iris-talk because I want to learn more
about
what I have and want to become more familiar with the whole subject.

Pender Island is in the southern part of the Strait of Georgia, and it is
one
of the driest parts of the West Coast (an oxymoron, perhaps). This summer,
for instance, we had virtually no rain from July through to Oct. 1st, and a
serious water restriction for those of us on so-so wells, so my iris
suffered
a great deal. I will note the damage in the spring, no doubt. So far, I
have
never lost one, and I have been growing iris for nearly a decade, purely as
a hobbyist.

Cheryl
