I know what you mean Gloria! About 30 years ago I ordered a
WUNderful-sounding plan from ? can't think of the name right now, (having a
senior moment!) - anyhow they didn;\'t come, and didn't come -- and we were
leaving for Europe and I had to enlist my gardening neighbor to take over.
The upshot was, the order came in driblets -- years later I was visiting the
place (it has an outstanding catalog - oh - now I remember, it was Wayside
Gardens) Welll, I have a quick, proof-reader eye that works uninhibitally
- if there is such a word - anyhow, it is not very controlled - and in
passing their desk, I saw a letter from Schreiner's - THEN it pierced my
feeble brain -- they did not raise all that marvelous catalog stuff --- they
were a "middle man" sort of manufacturer's rep -- at least they showed good
taste in contacting Schreiners (I think that was also the first time we
visited Schreiners and others in that area -- must have been driving around
while visiting a daughter married into the wandering navy) .
So-never again, I too buy ordinary plants locally - and I'm not as particular
about names as I am about irises' -- but you'll have fun ID-ing what you
have. Rosalie nr Baltimore zone 7 ryfigge@aol.com
