From: Linda Mann[SMTP:lmann@icx.net]
I have had bad experiences with two different iris growers that sent
mislabeled rhizomes, neither the one in the most recent thread. The
first one argued with me that the pale cream colored iris that they sent
was indeed TANYA (a very dark variegata - gold over black red) and would
not send a replacement. The other said that it couldn't be anything
other than what they said they sent me, but they would send a
replacement the following year with my next order. Needless to say, I
haven't bought anything from either of these places since and similarly,
haven't bought or grown any of their introductions. One of these places
was in Missouri, the other in either Texas or Oklahoma.
Sounds to me like they had a lotta nerve. I've gotten a few mislabeled
iris before. Makes me wonder about the ones I got that rotted away without
ever blooming. The only FANCY WOMAN I ever got that ever survived long
enough to bloom turned out to be CHAMPAGNE ELEGANCE (not nearly as exciting
a color; it had previously bloomed out and I had no desire to replace it).
The only INDISCREET that made it turned out to be PAPRIKA FONOS.
