CULT: suspicious new garden

I have a new "garden" on top of the ridge behind my house. Nothing more
than a rough opening among the fallen, southern pine beetle killed pine
trees. The entire cleared area is only a few hundred square yards with
a few rows plowed here and there among the stumps and logs in the middle
of about 150 acres of forest. It's been so dry, I've only planted about
a dozen cultivars there so far.

My neighbor is part of the local rescue squad. His mother just told me
she heard the radio exchanges as my iris patch was raided by the pot
squad the other day - two helicopters and drug dogs. I wish I could have
seen them as they tried to figure out what in the world I was up to
<g>. Sure am glad I put labels on all my rhizomes - apparently, they
were at least able to figure out it was "a flower garden".
