If you are planting the irises in beds, as is often the case with convention
irises, I suggest numbering the beds also. The above number would be changed
to B1R1-1.

I like to print out a copy of these so that I have it to carry with me . . .
to the beds, to the yard, or just to my favorite Lazy Boy recliner! LOL! My
choice for a permanent note book is a notebook (?)with plastic pockets. The
one before me is a 12 pocket (24 page) black (or white) book by Acco. Some
Staple stores have their own version but with blue plastic. They also make it in
24 pocket variety, but I fear they would be too cumbersome for my uses . . .
maybe okay for permanent records not meant to be as portable.

This note book has a pocket on the front where I insert a printout telling
what is inside. It's also possible to include pictures with the help of a glue
stick or tape!

Quite by chance, I've found that the plastic helps protect the information
should the note book be accidentally left out in a rainstorm! When found, stand
the notebook on end with the open slots facing down so the water that found
it's way inside can drain out. <bg> Information will be a bit stained, but
most will be readable!
