SPOUTING HORN, Johnson, 2001. Another Honky Tonk Blues child that has a
large rim of white at the bottom of the falls. This is another distinctive
iris. You cannot mistake it for another. It was kinda short with close
branching on a first year plant, but I expect that to improve next year. It
also gave very generous increase. I love it.

  Walter:
Spouting Horn did not bloom here the first year, but increased greatly with
strong foliage. This (second) year it bloomed heavily (very late), still tons
of sturdy increase. Excellent color and substance, average form, consistently
tall, with lots of buds but the same close branching here (sorry, Walter).
Excellent garden iris, I tried to cross it with pollen from Louisa's Song
about 40 times (hey, with bloom season practically over, I had nothing else to
put it on). Finally got one take. The pod only had 8 seeds, but the seeds
were the size of garbanzo beans! I've never seen anything even close to this
size. Who knows, that may turn out to be my best cross. They've been
soaking; they go in the refrigerator today or tomorrow.
