How Long Before Rhizomes Should Be Planted After Arrival?

First, thanks for all of the valuable information to my questions yesterday.

I received a shipment of new irises Monday, and I am wondering how long 
before I should plant. I ask because we are having so much rain it is hard to 
describe. My yard is soaked, and predictions are for rain every day for the next 
week. I assume these irises were dug about a week ago, so am I safe waiting 
longer, or should I get them into the wet ground now?
