Sorry, I must disagree with you on this. I am a highly unknowledgeable but loving iris enthusiast, unlike the rest of you knowledgeable people in this email community, but as a magazine publisher and designer, this is an area we, as professionals, constantly battle.Well said Melanie. The copyright extension act must have wrecked havoc on your industry. All those things created using materials thought to be in the public domain at the time now have to be re-examined.
Appropriation of imagery or text that you do not own is copyright infringement, plain and simple. Artists, writers, publishers, musicians must document carefully at all times, and small or large, individuals and small companies, as well as large, are hurt by such appropriation in any media, including the web.
Thanks

John Jones , on more than ones occasion , has posted more specific information about copyrights on these lists.
I am one of those guilty of copyright infringemement. I freely hybridize iris without the written permission of their creators who possibly have copyright interests.
