Kent, I'm afraid I left one factor out.  That is personal  preference.  In 
order for me to vote for an iris I have to like  it.  It is rare that I think 
any iris is UGLY, but it could  happen.  LOL!  
 
I'm not fond of purple plicatas and don't grow many.  I did grow  Jessie's 
Song for a few years and used it in crosses, but I'm not sure I ever  voted for 
it on the symposium.  But then I didn't have too since  everyone else kept it 
on the top!  
 
When used with Earl Of Essex, Jessie's Song gave some very clean (white)  
plicatas.  I'm learning that it's really only the 'dirty' purple plicatas  that I 
don't like!  Taste, like a lot of other things, evolves!  
 
The symposium IS about favorites!  I have a lot of favorites I'd LOVE  to 
vote for but don't.
