Julie, please don't apologize for asking questions here on the Iris
List. They are welcome. The resulting discussion and answers are usually
of some benefit to everyone on the list.
Now, as I don't have this particular problem I can't offer any useful
first-hand advice on your problem but you are on the right track in
thinking of looking at the Iris list archives. I recall that there was
quite a discussion on the mole/vole problem earlier in the year along
with some innovative and interesting solutions for dealing with them.
