I suspect that Gunnar has a real treasure in his old amoena. It closely
matches the description of an iris that *should* be widely grown -- but
doesn't (until now!!!) exist -- at least not in the USA or GB. I have never
encountered Gunnar's amoena, in the flesh, so to speak.

Of course, in the old iris game, nearly all of them are out there somewhere
-- the trick is to find them and identify them correctly. If they are not
rotters, or cold tender, someone, somewhere, is probably growing them and
treasures them as 'Great Aunt Till's white and purple flag'.

Gunnar -- could you examine the base of the leaves of the white/purple iris
and see if there is any purple color just where the leaves join the
rhizome? I have my fingers crossed -- hoping that there is a purple stain
there.
