Re: fertilizer when and how much


I'm debating between using an "organic" and an "inorganic" fertilizer.
For almost all purposes I use organic; but in the extreme heat here they
tend to break down quickly and I'm afraid might cause rot.  An
*inorganic* fertilizer, such as Peters 20-20-20, for example, doesn't
add much to the soil and can deplete it of some things; but then again
I've read that iris LIKE barren soil low in organic matter.  I don't
have "sand" to plant in, but rather a fairly heavy but mostly dry CLAY.
