In answer to the questions from CEMahan. Having seen some of your iris I
know you have something to brag about. Check back with me in 8 or 10 years.
Most of our hybridizing have been done with SDB's and TB's. We tried some AB
crosses this year also. Unfortunately, due to our lovely weather only one of
the crosses we made took. Oh well, there is always next year.
My hybridizing goal is toward everblooming iris (me and half the iris world).
However, Vernon (my husband) is looking for reds and blacks (once again in
some stiff competition).
As for MDB's we personally are not having much luck with them. Although we
can get them to grow they don't want to bloom. I suspect we don't normally
get cold enough, long enough for them. We currently have only 9 and only 4
of those bloomed this year. The ones that bloomed are Maya Makita, Elfin
Magic, Pixie Tricks, and Pixie Flirt.
Thanks for the interest and help. Talk to everyone soon.
