OT: I'm still here (update)

From: "R. Dennis Hager" <rdhager@dmv.com>

The storm has passed, dumping over 15" of rain. Some of you may recall
that I grow mainly beardless irises in a swale which drains to the river
at the back of my property. The swale has a new feature--a gully which
actually consumed several new JI selections that were transplanted last
week.

The river crested about 5 hours ago at about 16', 4' higher than at any
time previously recorded. It is receding at about 1' per hour. The town
sewer plant (which has a levee to prevent such things) is flooded. Only
one entrance into town is open.

I lost 3 large trees. I was planning to remove 2 of them eventually
anyway, as they were well past their prime. On the plus side, I won't
have to obtain a permit or submit a mitigation plan for replacement.
I'll also have firewood for next year. Additionally, I never lost power,
phone or cable! Now if I can root through the debris and find the JI
that washed out.
