NEWSFLASH: Walter Moores sent me a rhizome of ROSALIE FIGGE and it has
a very tall bloomstalk and about to show some real color. I had just
planted this in August. It lucked out since we are late for a killing
frost this September (another frost term - there are more...).

I have every hope of seeing R.F. bloom this year since IMMORTALITY
always did excepting the first year. My start of IMMORTALITY came from
Lowell Baumunk and I thought the colder climate in CO was the reason for
it...not so probably since our Walter lives in MS.

Here in the 3rd Zone, IMMORTALITY was always a faithful rebloomer
in Sept. just before the first frost. CRIMSON KING tried but never
made it. And the venerable BABY BLESSED never rebloomed once for me.
I did have some rebloom on REFINED at the end of August (SDB).

Our temps have gotten down to 35 F. in the main gardens...but parts of
our propery had a light frost and the neighbor's had what looked to be a
heavy frost but not a hard frost. (These subtle differences are a
continual source of conversation up here this time of year.)

We are in the throes of autumn which is wonderful and signals garden
cleanup time which is not so wonderful for a procrastinator like me.

Have to order some more bulbs before the ground freezes...

Cheers,
