Good morning all,
It is indeed a chilly morning here in the southeast as Linda has
reported. We had 42 last night and will just reach into the '70's today.
Perfect planting weather!
AUTUMN CIRCUS has put up one bloomstalk for me in the last week. This
is one who had an extremely short bloomstalk for its first bloom last spring
for me, but this one is the normal height. I moved it to a place where it
gets more sun...don't know if that had anything to do with it or not.
ZURICH has been blooming almost all month and still has a couple of blooms
left. It did not bloom in the spring, but has really done well in the late
summer. I think I have had better luck with these rebloomers this summer
because I have kept them watered. I also fertilized last spring and recently
with a foliar fertilizer. When I first started in this iris growing stuff,
the lady I bought my first reblooming rhizomes from told me not to water at
all and I think that was not the right advice for our climate here since I
have had better results with watering.
