HIST:CULT:TB: help - performance of important ancestors?

From: Linda Mann <lmann@icx.net>

I've been reading pedigrees (again) and am wondering about performance
some of the historics that show up in a lot of the west coast irises
that aren't prominent in pedigrees of cultivars I've tried to grow so
far. I will probably try to get some of these next year, but am curious
about performance of:

MALAYSIA (new this year as an extra from Cooley's)
PONDEROSA
DENVER MINT
MISSION TRAILS
SPANISH PEAKS
INCA CHIEF
TOBACCO ROAD
GLITTERING AMBER
PALOMINO
JUNE MERIDITH
MOON RIVER
 MIXED EMOTIONS
 LIMELIGHT
SAFFRON ROBE
 CHINESE CORAL
  FLEETA
PALOMINO

Any information on any of these as to 1) tendency to rot in heavy rain
after drought, 2) tendency to rot after spring freezes, 3) ability to
outgrow any problems would be appreciated. Thanks.

Information from catalog listings counts - I figure if it doesn't grow
in mid-continental & southeastern rollercoaster freeze, heat, flood, and
drought zones, they probably don't list it in catalogs from that part of
the country <grin>. One of my winter projects is to get all the
catalogs from places that sell historics. I hope they will send them
out of season.

As for the ones I'm newly torturing this year, SNOW FLURRY is growing
like a weed so far, enjoying being drowned by the hose and fertilized.
Must be the cold, wet winter it doesn't like.
