Someone told me the brain can only remember a list of 7 things (in immediate
memory), so in our house mailing in the order would have been what we call
"the eighth thing" that was one too many to remember.
Perhaps a reason to make only 7 spur-of-the moment crosses at a time?
Actually I don't even trust myself that far, I'd bring pen and paper...
