Glenn,

At least they don't sound like they are also eating
your Tillandsias, which they do in my own garden,
especially the ones that I have mounted
naturalistically on tree branches, which they would
procede to chew completely to bits.  I'd recommend
bird netting, which has been effective for me as a
remedy for both squirrels and raccoons, they don't
seem to like getting tangled up in it and have gone on
to torment other neighbor's gardens, (I've been asked
by a neighbor in the next block if the raccoons are
still attacking my bromeliads, as since I started with
the bird netting, they have moved on to attack his
bromeliads, leaving mine alone).  It works, but does
nothing to keep them out of the yard, just useful to
protect plants you don't want them to devour.
