T. chrysotricha is certainly hardy enough here in the
SF Bay Area, but does appreciate some warmth in summer
to get the best bloom.  My experience with this is
give it a warm protected spot out of cool coastal
winds.  It came through the 1998 freeze here with no
damage at 24F, and also is growing well at the Ruth
Bancroft Garden in Walnut Creek, where it probably got
down to 16F in this same freeze.
