Liz,
In addition to the great points being made by knowledgeable medit list
members, I came across this interesting website recently while searching for
trees for my yard. I have no knowledge of this company that published the
online tree catalog other than they seem to be based out of California, but
I think it is a good reference site relating a bit about various trees (you
can view medium, large or small trees by clicking on the links). Also, the
tree descriptions seem geared toward your exact needs detailing landscape
placement specifics such as suitability for particular width of medium
strips, beneath utility lines, etc.
