Re: Street trees


Oh i was oh so wrong Moira :). Weeeeell, it's still a pretty tree even if
it really is messy. I think i dont see so much mess because flowering
tends to be "spotty" here, with patches of flowers, but never a really
large burst of flowers as in its native home. The trees i've seen seem to
be pruned so they branch high and not obstruct pathways or roads (i saw a
line of them along a street in Redondo Beach in Southern California, I
think). 

It's too bad i dont see more of them in areas where they can grow large,
such as the seaside areas around nearby Pacific Grove. Many of those
seaside parks would be great places for them to grow (i could counter the
arguments that they aren't native by saying all those cypresses planted
really aren't native to anywhere but the two very very restricted spots
near Pt. Lobos). I think my backyard  may be large enough for one (70 X 80
feet), way in the back, near the corner of the yard, near the percolation
lot :).
