cause Im in coastal Mendocino w/ 50 inches of rain and lots of summer fog....I'm happy it's still alive. I think mine bloomed one stalk last year, but it was nothing to scream about.
I suspect that is your problem. According to Mary and Gary
Irish (Agaves, Yuccas and Related Plants) , Manfreda maculosa
is native to sandy mesquite forests and scrublands of Texas south into
the Mexico. Sounds far warmer and sunnier than where you are!
And if you got it from Gary Hammer, it probably came from the
Southwest.
And just as a note, the Irish's say that manfredas are
"often difficult to separate and hybridize freely"
