I trust that you are trying to avoid the use of chemicals? If not,
Roundup would inexpensively, quickly, and safely take care of those
errant grasses........If you elect to use the black plastic method it
usually only takes a couple of weeks of hot temps to kill grass off, but
it would be best to leave the plastic on for a couple of months to get
rid of the weed seeds that are still in the seed pool.
