Now &The future
Modern research has shown Hypericin one of the chemicals in St. John's Wort
may have some of the following actions: antidepressant, antiflu, antHIV,
antileukemic, anntiretroviral, antistomatitic, antiolytic; bacteriocide,
cyctotoxic, herbicde, insecticide, larvicide, phototoxic, MAO-inhibitor,
tonic, tranquilizer, viricide.
In 1996, 140 million dollars worth of St. John's Wort was sold in Germany
alone.
While it grows literally as a weed here in Australia (and therrefor can not
be sold in nurseries). Our blind politicians insist that we poison our
plants and import someone elses. Given the current lack of vision in
Australian politics this crazy situation is likely to continue.
