Deborah Lindsay's prediction is right, alas, the anthracnose is already
here. I'm not sure how long it has been around, but in the five years that
I've lived in my neighborhood, I know of at least two big trees that have
died, another that has half the blooms each spring, but seems to be holding
steady. Local nurseries recommend the Korean dogwood, Cornus Kousa, which
is resistant to the disease. The lovely katsura tree is another good
alternative. Still, it is sad to see the native dogwoods in trouble.
