i went to bay laurel nursery's twice a year open house last weekend and
they had some pretty amazing plants
they are wholesale growers of rhododedrons in scotts valley, california
i have their "variety reference guide" which says they feature
"varieties that we have found to be suitable to our climate"
the 12 acre nursery is in the hills about 7 miles north of santa cruz
the plants are grown amongst redwoods, pines, oaks, laurels and open space
were winter temps dip into the 'teens' and summers can be in the upper 90's
exposure is varied from full sun to very shady
in addition to rhodies, they grow companion ornamentals and deciduous trees
they welcome retail customers but ask that you call ahead as
they are production oriented and have minimal on site sales representatives
