I have it scrambling all over the place and to some extent, it can
become a nuisance since it is so eager to root whenever a stem hits
the ground. However, I love the banana fragrance and although it is a
star performer in late winter/early spring, I can rely upon a good mid
summer show, followed up with another in September with intermittent
clusters at all other times.
This summer, I've been rather pleased with the Arabian Jasmine -
Jasminum sambac. I was warned that it may not find our weather warm
enough to flower, but the plant never heard and has been covered in
semi-double, fragrant blooms since late May. It is having a brief
respite at the moment, but plenty of buds are showing and it promises
to 'get back on form' for September. I'll be interested to see how it
copes with our cool, moist winters.
Although I don't grow it here due to lack of room J. mesnyi does well
in the area. generally it flowers most heavily from January to March,
with intermittent blooms for the rest of the year. Although I'm not
exactly wild about yellow flowers, I do like the cheery show it puts
on and find ther fragrance and size a refreshing change to the more
widely grown 'Winter Jasmine' - J. nudiflorum.

change now!
