For the non-Texans among this group, here's what I
know about College Station.
It's in Brazos County, about 1.5 hours ENE of Austin,
3-4 hours WNW of Houston. It's not coastal, by any
means.
The major plant community that encompasses it is
called Post Oak Savannah. I believe there's also some
Blackland Prairies within the greater area.
Most of the soils have a "clay pan". Some with sandy
soil on top.
It sure gets warm here in summer and often humid. But
not nearly as humid as Houston or other coastal areas.
