RE: Testing , an tomatoes

It's been very cool here in Oakland this summer.
We even had a few drops of rain early this week.
Rain in August...a shock.

For those in cool medit climates who have been
frustrated in trying to get tomatoes to ripen,
I can report that red plastic used as mulch actually
works as advertized. I've been picking good flavorful
ripe tomatoes since mid-July. Those of you in SF,
Berkeley, and Oakland must know what a thrill that has
given me! This is the first time I've had ripe
tomatoes before September since 1979 when I moved to
Oakland.Yippee!!
