Would some one kindly advise me on care of Hemerocallis after flowering. I recently read somewhere that one should cut back the leaves but hadn't read that before, so for the moment haven't done so. Also should the plants continue to be watered all summer? I normally pull out the dry flower stalks when they are ready to be pulled out, but perhaps they should be cut back before that?
The daylilies gave a particularly wonderful display this year.
Thankyou - Jilly

Jilly, I am in San Diego, the southern tip of California and I can tell you that here, we basically ignore our hemerocallis. I pull out spent flower stalks once they dry, pull off the dead leaves from the underside of the plant once in a while but that's it. They stay evergreen. I don't water a whole heck of a lot but I water the hemerocallis all summer just like I water the other plants that are not summer dormant.
Hope this helps
