Hi all,
I was hoping that some of you on this list
might be able to offer some suggestions for
plants that are similar in appearance and
habit to salvia darcyi?
I love its generous bloom, loose form, and
the combination of light apple-green foliage
with the exuberant red flowers, but the smell
is just so offensive (especially given how
much time I spend deadheading it) that I'm
ready to yank it, which will leave a big
hole that needs to be filled. Anyone have
any favourite red-flowered salvias of similar
form? Where I garden, it regularly dips to
the mid-20's (F) in winter, so the replacement
has to be somewhat hardy (so s. confertifolia
is out).
Thanks in advance,
-- Irene.
