Protea dying off?

Hi

I have a large Protea (Compacta)  bush which is showing signs of stress. Although it is flowering profusely (the flowers are healthy) the leaves are yellowing and seem to be showing signs of some deficiency (similiar to nitrogen deficiency in citrus).

The yellowing leaves are spreading throughout the bush and although I cut off the affected stems when this yellowing started this has not stopped the spread. The bush is at least 5 years old and I think it might have reached the end of its allotted lifespan.

Any advice on supplements or treatment or can anyone tell me if they had a similair occurence and what the outcome was?

Thanks
Charl
