It also does fine in Clay. Here in the Blackland Prairie it can become a "hog wallow' in wet
weather and turns to brick by mid-Summer. Just make sure it's never in standing water.

I don't water that bed during summer at all. While winter rains often exceed 700mm/2.5ft, during summer we receive nearly no rainfall in July and August. .. it is a happy plant!
