effects of the recent cold weather

Seems like there is a good opportunity to discuss the effects of the recent cold weather on your gardens. I'm so glad to no longer feel the urgent need to cover certain items. A few larger (and therefore harder to protect) shrubs were hit pretty hard and are now starting to show the effects. I suspect I probably have not lost them and that they will come back. On the other hand, some plants I thought might die back to their roots are doing quite well. Interesting to contrast our expectations with reality at times.
