I also saw Y. Whipplei on the drive into the Palo Colorado canyon, on
my way to the Pico Blanco Boy Scout Camp ( we were there for an event
my college was throwing there) You could see smaller specimens right
along the roadsides and on the hillsides.
Pampas is horrible here too! Ive gotten cut many times when i was out
in Ft. Ord collecting seeds. It grows all along the highways between
Ft. Ord and Monterey too.
Ive never seen Y. Whipplei in the Chapparal in Ft ord. Big Sur may be
its farthest extent ( in the central coast that is).
