Recapping the weather from the central coast:
It seems like its been freezing the past several nights. Only last
night we had a "vacation" from the frost as morning rains melted it
quick or stopped it in its tracks. The days have been constantly
cool.....never passing the mid 60's (havent watched the news for a
while so im not sure). Anyways it sure seems quite cold during the day.
Been having frigid hands for the past few days as a result. My
california poppies and russel hybrid lupine seedlings have all be
spared, but its probably because the bamboo plant above protects them.
My microlepia ferns dont have any signs of frost damage (they dont take
much below 28 F) as they are protected by a juniper that hangs over
them. My flowering plum is probably reveling in this weather, and im
thinking we may get a nice show from it (little side branches and main
stems are covered in buds). As for a slightly unrellated topic, my
Archontophoenix cunninghamiana looks horrible.......what leaf it has is
mostly brown, but i do see a new leaf comming through. It seems to grow
so slowly here, probably as a result of it constantly being cool here.
However, im thinking of moving it indoors. Although it might prove
fatal for it if i put it outside eventually.
Its really a test plant to see how well certain "risky plants" do
here......
More to come.....
