well if youre up for a trip into Ft. Ord, there are some very beautiful
examples of these along the trails (great for hiking or riding ur
bike). Anyways, vernal pools generally have a succession of plants.
Meaning that as the pool dries out, you see rings of different plants,
depending where they are from the water. There are some very nice
annual flowers that grow on the waters edge, like popcorn flower (very
small white flowers). and there are other pretty anuals that grow along
the edges that arent really apparent far away. There are also rushes
that grow in these pools as well (they too are dfferent heights
depending where they are in the water.
	The rushes that grow in these pools can become so thick they obscure
the water, not fun if you rush out into the pools in search of native
frogs, only to step in foot deep water! They often have interesting
colors (from a reddish color to a deep green).
