So far in my various gardens their has been *visible* damage to:
various Brugsmansia , Fuchsia boliviana, F. 'Gartenmeister Bonstedt', various
Bouganvillea , Salvia discolor, S. confertiflora, S. madrensis, S.
sinaloensis, S. 'Waverly', S. leucantha, S. cacaliaefolia (I'm too lazy to get
up and check the spelling-cope:) ), various Hydrangeas, Canna 'Pretoria' and
'Black Knight', Cuphea ignea, C. micropetala, Tibouchina urvilleana, T.
heteromalia, various Impatiens, Stachys byzantina 'Siver Carpet' and 'Helen
von Stein', various Lantana camara hybrids (which are not a weed here),
various Gingers and blessed be Oxalis pes-caprae...
I tend to be a minimalist when it comes to pampering things in freezes but I
do grieve the losses and pray for the strength not to be seduced by quite so
many tender things when it's time for replacements...and I also expect many
plants will recover and send up shoots from the branches and/or crowns.
It has been only 8 years since the last freeze and that is unusual. The '90
was worse in that it never got above freezing several days in a row. This time
the temperature has risen into the 40's during the day in the sunnier areas
here in Oakland, though in the shade I've had frozen soil
all day on the roof garden, and persistent ice in the pond.
