Hmm. I haven't had a single seedling of this thing appear in four years. My watering is all drip under 3 inches of mulch, so maybe that's why.

Also, as far as I remember, the flowers are indeed purplish as the photo shows, not blue. Maybe some other Aristea? Since there seems to be a consensus on the genus, I'll do some more searches.
