Aloes and fungus?

Does anyone have any experience with aloes that are suddenly covered in black spots and shriveling? I have eight or ten different species in my front garden and they seem to be succumbing to this strange affliction. They are not over or underwatered. They are in soil that has excellent drainage, full sun and have been happy for the first two years they were in the ground. This condition only appeared a couple of months ago.
