Re: What's eating my fig?

I am chuckling at the volume and variety of responses to my question about what is eating my fig.

There are no deer in this area so I can rule them out.

Yes we have squirrels though I've not seen one in my yard thanks to my dog and cat.

Yes we have rats and they do eat the fruit (there is none at the moment), but I am surprised to hear that they will eat bark....

We also have possums, raccoons (though not often), and gopher (who thankfully stay underground though they do love fig roots).

Shall I assume it is the rats?
