I have long felt the need for a woody plant society. As far as I know,
there isn't one. There is a separate society for various woody genera -
rhododendrons, camellias, holly, magnolias, boxwood, and possibly
others. It gets to be expensive belonging to a separate society for
every plant one is enthusiastic about. The clubs I feel happiest paying
my $25 a year to are the ones that include many genera. The alpine plant
societies are the best example of this, and many members grow no alpines
at all, perhaps only woodland plants. The hardy plant groups also
include many genera, although not as many as the alpine societies. So -
is there a woody plant society already?
