By the way, I didn't tell you : we (my wife Clara and myself) run a
botanical nursery in South of France. We're specialized in plants for dry
gardens, perennials, grasses, shrubs, and ground-covers replacing lawns.
We just love rare and unusual plants, wether people buy them or not. It's
becoming really busy here, with the nice weather coming back. Now (it's the
evening) I'm relaxing a bit, with the help of a glass of Muscat wine :-)
...
Let's have fun ! What about trying some new plants ? I have some spare
seeds of the following plants, and I would be hapy to exchange. I'm looking
for anything strange, tolerant to drought, cold (-8 ° C at least), wind,
alcaline soil and salt (that's all).
Cistus : C. albidus, C. clusii, C. libanotis, C. laurifolius, C. ladanifer
var. petiolatus, C. creticus ssp creticus, C. creticus ssp villosus, C. x
canescens, C. populifolius, C. verticillatus. Cuttings of about 100 species
and hybrids.
Phlomis : P. anatolica, P. crinata, P. viscosa, P. lanata, P. longifolia
var. bailanica, P. longifolia, P. fruticosa, P. bourgaei, P. purpurea, P.
purpurea 'Alba', P. russeliana. Cuttings of 30 species.
Nerium : seeds of about 50 cultivars (did I tell you of our collection of
Nerium : more than 170 cultivars : for those who live in Europe, come and
visit our oleander test-field during the summer !)
And also Teucrium flavum, T. massiliense, T. asiaticum, T. hicanicum,
Anthyllis barba jovis, Colutea orientalis, Rhus coraria, Jasminum
fruticans, Asphodelus fistulosus, Ferula communis, Sarcopoterium
spinosum... and many more !
To answer Paolo from Italy : we are near Montpellier, (our experimental
garden goes right to the sea shore, that's why I'm quite conscious of salt
problems). When the wind blows really strong, we're like on a boat.
We're leaving for our botanical trip to Crete the day after tomorrow. So
don't worry if I don't answer quickly. I hope we'll find lot's of new seeds
!
Well that's the end of it, the glass of Muscat is empty :-))
