really busted

Well, just to add another anecdote: some northern
California bamboo fanatics were driving home from
the annual rare bamboo auction at the Quail Botanical
Gardens, having stuffed their old van full of plants.

They were whipping up I-5 and were spotted by a local
judge who was coming home from an L.A. workshop on
illegal drug users. The judge made the next exit and
called the cops.

Well, the CHP caught up with the bamboo van on the
Pacheco Pass, ran it off the road and ordered the
hapless bamboo fans out at gunpoint. They spread-eagled
them face down in the dirt while they went through
their cargo. Nuts! Only bamboos! They were allowed
to proceed on their way. (No apology, though.)
