Not sure about that, since here in monterey (where C. macrocarpa is
native) the trees arent usually cut down and chipped up! However they
spread freshly chipped Eucalyptus branches on my grandmothers side yard,
and a lot of established weeds survived. It didnt seem to affect the
Nasturtiums (N. tropaeolum) at all (in fact they climbed up into a tree).
Anyways i digress, but i dont think too much would happen if you used the
chips from your C. macrocarpas immediately (however dont take my advice as
a rule! )

its funny, thats another tree we dont usually cut down (its native to
Monterey also), unless its dying, and usually the woods used for firewood
instead of chips. And most of the time, if the tree falls out in the
forest, they cut the logs up and haul them away.
